The DeSoto Farmer’s Market Tractor Parade will be April 26th at 10:00 a.m. along Main Street. This year’s parade will again be held in conjunction with the Little League. The Grand Marshall will be Julie Ott, whose family was the Farm Family of the Year in 2013. We hope you can come out to encourage us along the route and snag some freebies!
Trivia Night
It was a wonderful evening at the recent De Soto Farmers’ Market Trivia night. Due to the generosity of the De Soto Community, the DFM Trivia Night was a huge success and consequently will secure the opening of De Soto Farmers’ Market on May 3rd. The DFM evening had 16 teams competing, 18 sponsors, featuring Johnston Construction Company as the event sponsor, and 18 businesses contributing over 35 items for the silent auction. Everyone had a fabulous time. Thank you to all sponsors and contributors who made this evening possible. And remember —- Grand Opening of De Soto Farmers’ Market is May 3rd. I’ll meet you at the Market!
Good Agricultural Practices and Food Safety Workshop
The market has coordinated with Lincoln University to bring a Good Agricultural Practices and Food Safety Workshop! It will be held Saturday, March 29th from 9:30-3:00. The cost is $20 and covers your materials and lunch. Contact Joyce if you’d like to register.

Jefferson County Extension Council Elections
Jefferson County Extension has been a great resource for the DeSoto Farmer’s Market since we started. They have helped us schedule workshops, coordinate with Weights and Measures, and recruit local producers. It is also a vital part of Jefferson County life.
Extension is holding its annual elections for Extension Council positions. All registered voters in Jefferson County are encouraged to vote, and you may have received a ballot by mail if you are involved with Extension programming. Voting began Monday, January 20th and will end Monday, January 27th.
If you’d like more information about the Extension Council and what they do, you can find that information here. You can also find more information about the election, which runs through January 27th, here. We’d like to help them have the largest number of voters ever!
There’s a new option this year too that allows you to cast your ballot online if you can’t get by the office in Hillsboro or don’t wish to mail your completed ballot. Click on the link below if voting online is your preferred method.
(If you’re not certain in which district you reside, please contact the office to get clarification: 636-797-5391 or [email protected].)
