We are offering five workshops during the off-season of the farmers’ market. Descriptions for each are below. Registration can be done online or by downloading a paper form. However, Leslie Bertsch’s course in January requires registration through the MU Extension class registration system. We will share the link for that as soon as it is available.
Spring Prep for Gardens/Crops
November 13—Spring Prep for Gardens/Crops | 10am–12pm with Kate Kammler | Cost: $15/participant. This class is for anyone wanting to understand how to prepare their garden or crops for the spring. Ten person minimum for class to make; November 11th deadline.
Canning Boot Camp
January 22—Canning Boot Camp | 9am-4pm with Leslie Bertsch | Cost: $45/participant; limited seating; registration online ONLY. You can register here. A hands-on food preservation course that will provide participants with all the information they need to confidently preserve food using steam canning, boiling water canning, and pressure canning. The class will also review the key steps one needs to take to freeze and dry high-quality produce, but participants will not actively preserve food via freezing and drying. If we have more than 15 people interested in the food preservation class, a second class will be offered on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 9am-4pm.
Marketing and Advertising Round Table and Planning
February 12—Marketing and Advertising Round Table and Planning | 10am– 12pm with Debi Kelly | Cost: $15/participant. This class is for vendors and small business owners looking to discuss marketing and advertising. Ten person minimum for class to make; February 10th deadline.
March 12—Market 101 | 10am–12pm with Dawna Watkins | Cost: $15/ participant (Fee will be applied to 2022 application fee for market.) This is an overview of the market and vendor planning tips for anyone looking to be a new vendor at the market or vendors who want tips on improving their booth space. Topics covered will be: filling out the online application, customer interaction, product placement and table layout, signage and reviewing the 2022 Rules and Regulations.
Kid’s Market Class
March 12—Kid’s Market Class | 1pm-2:30pm with Dawna Watkins | Cost: $15/participant (Fee will be applied to 2022 application fee and 2 booth rental fees on Kids’ Mart days in 2022.) This class for all kids 16 and under who wish to be apart of our once monthly Kid’s Mart at the DFM. We are asking any kids who wishes to sell at the DFM 2022 Kid’s Mart weeks sign-up for this class. This class will talk about what you need at the market, how to sell your items, how to talk to customers, and planning a budget.
